Today, we will introduce the procedures for using external warehouses by EPE companies, which we have been receiving more and more inquiries about recently.

First of all, all materials, semi-finished products, and products owned by EPE companies are in bonded condition, so they are not allowed to be stored outside the factory without permission.

However, due to reasons such as a shortage of factory space, it is possible to obtain permission from customs and store materials as the property of the EPE company in warehouse space outside the factory.

There are two main methods.

1. The EPE company prepares its own warehouse and operates it as its own warehouse after obtaining permission from customs.

2. The EPE company uses part of a logistics company’s warehouse and entrusts the storage of cargo to the company after obtaining customs permission.

The advantages and disadvantages of each pattern are as follows.

The sensitivity of EPE companies to the use of external warehouses varies depending on the jurisdiction of the customs, but we store products of multiple EPE companies in our warehouse.

For customs procedures, we require a lead time of 1-2 months after securing warehouse space and preparing the necessary documents. (If the customs office with jurisdiction over the EPE is different from the customs office with jurisdiction over the warehouse location, it may take longer.)
