News Letter 005 Federal Noxious Weed Seeds Updates
Thank you very much for your continued support.
We have been notified that in North America (U.S.A. and Canada), quarantine for weed seeds attached to cargo is becoming stricter.
In North America, if weed seeds are found in a container, the container will be fumigated, and in the worst case, the container will be shipped back to the origin.
Weed seeds are very small and scattered, so it is very difficult to prevent them completely, but there are a few things in particular that should be avoided,
-Storing pallets for export outdoors (purchasing and using pallets stored outdoors).
-Temporarily storing export cargo outdoors, including under eaves.
-Stuffing containers near weeded areas, etc.
In addition, as a preventive measure
-Clean the inside of the container with a vacuum cleaner before stuffing.
-Clean the surface of the cargo with something like adhesive tape.
-Stuffing in an enclosed environment
-Weed the surrounding area frequently, etc.
Once weed seeds are found in a shipment, the local consignee will have to pay a great deal of time, effort, and cost.
